Aero Design CFD

"Okay, so now that you know basic Computation Fluid Dynamics from examples with this flat plate, design a car more aerodynamic the La Ferarri, that fits the same size engine, passengers, and is roughly the same dimensions." This project was almost more artistic guess and check than fluid dynamic design. 

This project was CAD design task. To receive top marks, groups had to design a two passenger vehicle that when traveling at a speed of 60 miles per hour, produced more down-force and less drag than the La Ferarri. We studied Formula 1 designs and theory behind racecar design and applied a variety of aerodynamic principles. Stifling boundary layer detachment and perfecting the ground effects were the hardest challenges. In the end, my team produced a design that not only beat the LaFerarri, but was also the second best performer in the class. We named it Billie Holiday.
